This course is a Spanish language course geared toward individuals studying or working in health-related areas. The course is devoted to the study of medical terminology in Spanish and the cultural issues related to successful interactions with Spanish-speaking patients and their families in the clinical setting. It will introduce the student to a wide array of vocabulary particular to the medical field, as well as help the student develop a cultural understanding of medicine and illness in the Spanish-speaking world to prepare for potential work with Spanish-speaking patients in future careers in medicine, nursing, social work, translation/interpretation, or mental health settings.

“Spanish for Law Enforcement Officers” is designed to prepare non-Spanish-speaking police officers to use Spanish language skills and cross-cultural strategies to enhance their ability to aid victims and control offenders in potentially dangerous situations involving native Spanish speakers. Note: This course is NOT a substitute for any criminal justice course. It is strictly to enhance learned knowledge of policing protocols. Spanish for Radiography is a comprehensive Spanish language program that provides cross-cultural training and immediate access to functional language skills for non-Spanish-speaking students in the Radiography Program as well as radiologic technologists, radiology technicians and radiology personnel who have a need to interact with and treat Spanish-speaking patients in need of radiology services.
